Description:
On 30th July, Goethals Memorial School was abuzz with eloquence and insight as students took center stage for the Interclass Debate and Talk-a-Minute Competition. From fiery arguments to spontaneous speeches, the day was a celebration of clarity, confidence, and the power of well-chosen words.
Students from Classes 7 to 12 engaged in spirited debate, tackling complex topics with poise, precision, and—refreshingly—without raising their voices. Their thoughtful exchanges proved that strong opinions don’t need shouting to be heard. As one observer quipped, “Some TV anchors could learn a thing or two from our students about how to argue with grace!”
Meanwhile, the younger participants lit up the stage with their quick-thinking charm in the Talk-a-Minute segment. With just sixty seconds to speak on surprise topics, they impressed the audience with their spontaneity, humor, and fearless delivery.
A Lesson in Civility and Confidence
What made the event truly memorable was the atmosphere: lively yet respectful, competitive yet kind. It was a masterclass in how dialogue can be both dynamic and dignified.
Whether debating global issues or riffing on quirky prompts, our students reminded us that the future of discourse is in good hands — articulate, thoughtful, and wonderfully well-mannered.
