Description:
The Mock Parliament at Goethals Memorial School, held on 30th August 2024, proved once again to be an exciting and educational event. This initiative, introduced a few years ago, has quickly become a much-anticipated tradition, offering students a unique platform to experience the workings of the Indian Parliament firsthand.
Students from Classes X, XI, and XII stepped into the shoes of lawmakers, engaging in vibrant discussions on current public issues and debates. The event allowed them to sharpen their public speaking and debating skills while fostering an understanding of group dynamics, tolerance for different viewpoints, and a deeper awareness of social challenges.
The session, chaired by Raymond George of Class 12 Humanities, was judged by Mr. Gautam Banerjee and Mrs. Binita Yonzon. The titles of Best Speakers were awarded to Samarth Tamang (Class 12 Humanities) and Siddid Dewan (Class 10A) for their articulate and persuasive contributions.
The Mock Parliament remains a highlight on the GMS calendar, encouraging young minds to engage with democracy and critical thinking.
